Sweet Wine

Here at Canes Country, we have already talked about the new partnership between the Carolina Hurricanes and Duplin Winery, along with the announcement and release of their special commemorative wine, “T E N”, back in the “Have a Drink on Me” post a couple of weeks ago. But recently, we received an email from a representative of the winery informing us about the completion of a brand new website especially for “T E N” which also gives Caniacs the opportunity to sign up for prize packages! Some of the prizes include: award winning Duplin wines, tickets to Duplin events, Duplin Winery tailgate packages, official Carolina Hurricanes gear, Hurricanes game tickets, and more! There are also links to where you can order the wine online or read more about Duplin Wines. Keep in mind that a portion of the proceeds from the sales of “T E N” will be given to the Kids ‘N Community Foundation. This is what you call your classic, win/win situation! We have also been informed that the very first prize package will be a 3 pack of Duplin wines which includes an autographed bottle of “T E N”. I wonder who autographed it? You’re probably asking, where do I sign up? Go to this website, Caniacten.com, and follow the bouncing puck! I have also put a link to this site under the “Canes Related Sites” category on the left sidebar. Good luck Caniacs! I hope one of our readers wins something!

  1. I’m happy that the Canes are pursuing these cool PR ventures like the TEN wine, however I tried some of this wine last week and I have to say “YUK”! It is an EXTREMELY sweet red berry wine. Sickeningly sweet, I’d say. I couldn’t even finish one glass. If it weren’t illegal for those under 21 to drink, I’d say it was a perfect wine for 17 year old girls. It reminds me of the popularity with teenage girls of Boone’s Farm “Strawberry Hill” and wine coolers from my days in high school. Canes, how about a wine for adults?

  2. karparules..

I agree, the sweet wine requires an “acquired taste”, but sometimes the best bottle of wine remains unopened! I plan to get a few bottles and hopefully get them autographed. They will look great alongside my Jerry Garcia collection, (which will always remain unopened)

    Thanks for your comment!

  3. ..I liked the wine and I am far from 17:) - but..I had it really chilled. A nice change!

  4. I think it is cool that the ‘Canes made wine from Carolina grapes, not from California and slapped a label on it. It tasted just like the grapes that grew in my backyard when I was a kid. It is sweet, but I like it like that.

  5. If you do not like sweet wine, then this is not the wine for you.
However, if you do like sweet wine, there is nothing better!!
