Babchuk, Melichar, and Boychuk all skated and practiced in lieu of the now foregone pregame skate. I was going to ask coach Laviolette when they might see some action, but he was busy by time I got over to where he was.

He apparently had a heart attack on the bench near the end of the third period. Details are still a bit sketchy though.

Isn’t that guy Cherepanov the guy brandon sutter leveled in the world juniors last year? I just read he passed away at a game today.

A very big key tonight will be containing Tomas Holmstrom and Johan Franzén in front of Cam Ward, specifically on when Carolina is killing a penalty. If I can find one fault in the play of Brandon Sutter through two NHL games — and let me be clear, Sutter has played *extremely* well overall — it’s that he’s lost guys in front of the net a couple times. It will be hard to lose sight of these two big Swedes, because they will be on the edge, or just inside, the goal crease. Both will be a big challenge for the defensemen and centers on the PK.

Good to see you mixing it up with the players Bubba, as it should be. I actually have better feeling about tonight’s game than I thought I would. We can beat these Red Wings.

Maybe Samsonov will make his scoring debut tonight, he’ll come out eventually, he’s a great player.

I watched the Tampa game again on DVR today and wow Pitkanen is an amazing player. I was too on edge Saturday night to even notice his game play. We are blessed to have him on our team.

I will be at the game cheering them on. Go Canes!
