Canes Country Points - Montreal at Carolina
It’s time again for readers to take another shot at earning points toward free tickets. Tonight Montreal is in town to take on Carolina, but instead of guessing about the final score like we have done in the past, we will try something different for this game.
Guess which Carolina player will score first in tonight’s contest, and win 10 points.
Again you can choose anyone you would like, even if someone else has already chosen that player ahead of you. If you think that the Canes will be shutout and no one will score, simply say “shutout” and you will win if you are correct.
One entry per user ID and all entries must be posted by game time.
For more information and a listing of current standings, check out this link.

As usual, the game preview will be posted after lunch. There is no local television broadcast for this matchup, so I will be making “live updates” from the rink between periods again tonight. If you are online, feel free to drop in and make comments or ask questions.
_____
Last night, I was interviewed by a French journalist/blogger who had some intelligent questions to ask about the Hurricanes. I answered the best that I could, even if it wasn’t in French.
Check that out here.

First goal… Wallin, the Secret Weapon, with a booming slap from the point that will absolutely frighten the poor Habs’ netminder… what is his name, Cory?
Followed closely by his penalty-box buddy, Samsonov (two beautiful feeds to Sammy by Staal last game as Sammy circled in front of the goal. I think those situations are exactly how Sammy needs to be a part of the offense… and how he scored a lot last year!!).

Peter Laviolette. He takes away Staal’s gear and stick and scores a goal in his jersey. Lavi then becomes our #1 center and John Forslund becomes the head coach. Staal then goes on to be a pee wee hockey coach.
Ok, a little on the iffy side maybe….
For real: Matt Cullen.

Awesome, Ivan!
I don’t want to start the comments going down this road, but I can’t help saying…
I would love to see WALLY TATOMIR say, “Dammit, I’m just going to take care of this myself… if you want something done right….”, grab some equipment, jump over the boards on a change, payback Laraque for Rod’s injury by checking him through the glass, and score the game-winner with a forehand to backhand through the five hole.
So…. Wally Tatomir. Canes 1, Habs 0. The crowd goes CRAZY!!! “None better!”

Since the pickins’ are slim at this point I will say that Gleason will score for the first time in his career against the Habs.

Let’s hope the flood gates just opened for Sammy… Even though _I_ don’t get any points for that one, I’m so happy to see him score that I still feel like a winner!
Great game (espc to go against the flow with the win after the Habs score first)
And wow! sutter is one heck of a kid! Every game I see I’m even more impressed (which is saying something because I was very very impressed with him the first game I saw him play). Sadly, every game I feel more and more that Staal needs to be rested awhile, or at the very least, needs to be playing less minutes. Don’t get me wrong, I think he wants to make the effort, I just don’t think he has it in him at the moment, and I think it costs the team as a whole. Someone, somewhere, recently made the analogy that when he’s on the ice it’s like we are playing shorthanded. I wouldn’t go quite that far, but I think it is fair to call it a 5 on 4.5 when he is on the ice lately. I would feel better if he were only on the ice 5 minutes a game, but they were quality minutes, rather than 20+ sub-par minutes. Maybe that’s just me (but I don’t think I’m alone on this one).

I have T-Leaf, JBoy, and Pete as winners. The points are currently added to the main contest page.
As always if I left someone out, please let me know.
